No more corrosion: retrofit your seawater systems with Bondstrand®
Ships operate in one of the most corrosive environments: seawater. Corroded steel and metal piping constantly needs to be replaced during the life time of the vessel. Replacing them with Bondstrand® Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) is the solution for these corrosion problems.
Benefits
Corrosion resistant low life-cycle cost light weight. Reduce costs:
- on installation
- on material
- one time investment
- no painting required
Corrosion of metallic piping is a well known problem on board of seagoing vessels and offshore units. Corrosion occurs when the piping is part of seawater systems; systems using acids, etc. for cleaning like evaporators and other corrosive fluids. Traditionally, corroded pipes are replaced from time to time by new pipes made of the same material. This means the defect is repaired, but the problem not solved. Future replacement of this spool is only a matter of time.
Leaking seawater lines are a nuisance on board of ships. Seawater spraying, or dripping from leaking pipes may also result in collateral damage on surrounding equipment and instruments. For many ship owners and offshore operators, the exchange of piping is almost regarded as part of the daily routine. The life time of a system can be more ore less predicted based on experience and is often accepted as a 'fact of life'. No questions are asked and systems are being repaired on a frequently.
Ameron offers a solution to your corrosion problems on board of ships and offshore units. It is called Bondstrand® Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy (GRE). Bondstrand Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) pipe systems have a number of significant advantages when compared to steel or other metallic piping. Except for the low weight and low pressure loss, the material is corrosion resistant to salt water and a wide variety of chemicals. Bondstrand pipe systems function very well at higher temperatures (up to 121 ºC).
Our piping systems haven proven their performance for more than half a century and have been used successfully since 1957 on thousands of ships and offshore units all over the world.
